On Amazon, you will immediately note how popular the Wondfo Pregnancy Test Review are. They come in packs of 25 or 50 strips and are one of the cheapest pregnancy tests available. Is it a smart idea to buy such a cheap test for such an important thing as finding out whether you are pregnant? Or does it really not matter since all tests are based on the same methodology and are other brands just overcharging for their tests? Does Wondfo actually offer a reliable test at a low pricepoint? Let’s find out in this extensive review.
Description of the Wondfo Pregnancy Test Strips
Let’s start out with looking at what the company itself has to say about their test. The information on their website is scarce, but at least they mention:
“Wondfo One Step hCG Pregnancy Urine Test is a rapid pregnancy test. It adopts double antibody sandwich method detects the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), which appears in urine very early during pregnancy.”
A rapid test. Sounds good. We want to have our result quickly don’t we? And the double antibody sandwich method definitely sounds like the test is quite sophisticated. Or is it?
Regardless of the technical language, this test works just like most other pregnancy tests out there. It measures the levels of the pregnancy hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine. This hormone is produced by the cells of the embryo that will later form the placenta. The level of hCG starts to increase from its basal level of less than 5 mIU/ml directly after implantation, and doubles about each 48 hours during the first weeks of pregnancy.
Now, let’s look at the features of the Wondfo Pregnancy Test Review as advertised by the manufacturer:

Sensitivity: 25 mIU/ml
Wondfo claims that pregnancy can be detected as early as 7 days after implantation. However, they do not support this claim by a reference to a clinical study. We just have to take their word for it. On the other hand, if we assume that the claimed sensitivity (25 mIU/ml) is correct, it means that the test has indeed a reasonably good sensitivity around 7 days after implantation, as the average level of hCG after 7 days is around 100 mUI/ml.
Let’s say that the test can measure pregnancy hormones at such low levels and that it gives a positive result 7 days after implantation. Implantation of a fertilized egg normally takes place 6-12 days after ovulation. So actually, 7 days after implantation can be anywhere between 13-19 days after ovulation. This is roughly at the time of your missed period!
Now, it may be that the test is reasonably reliable a few days earlier, but honestly, based on the information provided by the manufacturer, we have nothing to support this.
